Rai 3 (Rai Tre) is an Italian free-to-air television channel owned and operated by the state-owned public broadcaster RAI. It was launched on 15 December 1979 after over a year of tests, with the inaugural broadcast introduced by the young actress Fabiana Udenio. Its programming has always centred on cultural and regional content, and it has long been considered the most left-leaning of Italy's public channels.

Culture, Regions and Journalism

The channel's first director was Giuseppe Rossini, and its news programme TG3 was entrusted to Biagio Agnes, built on a network of regional editorial offices that still produce the TGR regional news. The grid carries the investigative magazines Report and PresaDiretta and the science programme Kilimangiaro, alongside theatre, opera and documentaries. Rai 3 streams live on RaiPlay.
