The channel takes its name from a mountain. Kapaz TV - Kəpəz TV, after Mount Kapaz, the peak that stands over Ganja - is the television of Azerbaijan's second city, and it has a place in the country's broadcasting history: when it went on air on 6 May 1994, it was the first privately owned regional television channel in Azerbaijan.

That pioneering status has defined it. Run by the Kapaz Independent Teleradio Company from Ganja's Nizami district, the channel covers the northwest of the country - the city and its region - with a localism that the national networks cannot match.

Ganja's Own

The grid is built on regional news and programs about the life of Ganja and the northwest: the communities, the culture, the events of the city that was once called Kirovabad. Between 2016 and 2019 the channel carried the name ARB Kapaz; it has since returned to the name of the mountain.

Three decades on, Kapaz TV remains what it was at the start - Ganja's own channel, independent and local.
