TeleZüri is a local television station for the city and agglomeration of Zurich. The station was founded in 1994 by the well-known local radio pioneer Roger Schawinski. Together with Radio 24, TeleZüri was sold in 2001 for 90 million Swiss francs to Tamedia AG, which also publishes one of Switzerland's most important daily newspapers, the Tages-Anzeiger.
TeleZüri is known for its comprehensive coverage of local events, news and culture in the Zurich region. The station offers a wide range of content, including breaking news, talk shows, cultural events, sports coverage and much more. Viewers have the opportunity to find out about the latest developments and events in their city and surrounding area.
The takeover by Tamedia AG brought new opportunities and resources to TeleZüri, further improving the quality and diversity of its broadcasts. As part of a renowned media holding company, TeleZüri was able to access a broad network of journalists and resources, which enabled the station to expand its coverage and increase its reach.
In the years that followed, TeleZüri has taken a firm position in Zurich's media landscape and has become a trusted source of information for the local population. The station strives to feel the pulse of the city and its residents and to pick up on relevant topics and stories that interest people in the region.
However, in 2010, Tamedia Group announced its intention to sell TeleZüri and Radio 24, raising questions about the station's future. Despite the possible changes, TeleZüri remains an important part of Zurich's media landscape, helping to keep people in the city and surrounding area well informed and strengthening their local identity.
