ABC Kids Live Stream

ABC Kids is the Australian Broadcasting Corporation's free-to-air preschool channel, serving children aged six and under with a trusted mix of entertainment and early-learning programming. Broadcasting in English from 4am to 7:30pm, it shares its channel capacity with the evening service ABC Family, and its live stream runs online through the ABC's iview platform.

From Programming Block to Preschool Channel

The brand dates back to 1991, when the ABC gathered its children's programming into a daily block called ABC For Kids, itself named after a children's music label founded two years earlier. The first dedicated channel, abckids, was launched on 1 August 2001 as the ABC's first digital multichannel, sharing airtime with the youth service Fly TV until budget cuts closed both in 2003. The current service took shape in 2011 as ABC 4 Kids, a part-time preschool channel, adopted the ABC Kids name in March 2015, and in 2020 introduced the animated apple, bee and crocodile characters that front its present identity.

Programming and International Reach

The schedule is built around long-running Australian institutions such as Play School, the craft-and-story programme broadcast on the ABC since the 1960s, and home-grown hits led by Bluey, the Emmy-winning animation about a Brisbane cattle-dog family that has become one of Australia's most successful television exports. Acquired series fill out the daily grid, alongside songs, games and audio content published on the ABC Kids website and its family of apps. Since July 2026 the channel has also been distributed internationally as a streaming service on LG Smart TV screens in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Ireland, the Netherlands, the Nordic countries and Singapore.
