Gene Scott earned a Ph.D. in philosophies of education from Stanford University in 1957 and served as a pastor and broadcaster in Los Angeles for almost fifty years. He pastored the Faith Center in Glendale and the Wescott Christian Center, held weekly Sunday services at the Los Angeles University Cathedral, served as a traveling teacher for the Pentecostal Assemblies of God, and led the Full Gospel Fellowship of Churches and Ministers International. In 1975 he added a nightly live television broadcast, the Festival of Faith, and in 1983 his University Network became the first twenty-four-hour religious television network delivered by satellite across North America, Mexico and the Caribbean. Scott was known for a flamboyant, candid on-air persona in his late-night evangelistic broadcasts.

A Continuing Broadcast

Following Gene Scott's death in February 2005, his extensive archive of recorded Bible lessons continued to broadcast. His widow, Pastor Melissa Scott, whom he married in 2000, carries the ministry forward with her own teaching from the Wescott Christian Center. Teaching Style and Legacy
