Al-Zahra TV Turkic Live Stream

Al-Zahra TV Turkic brings the teaching of the Twelve Imams to Turkish and Azerbaijani speakers. It is the Turkish-language service of Imam Hussein Media Group, the Shia broadcaster whose other channels work in Arabic, English, Urdu and Persian, and it was registered as the group's fifth channel before the group opened a representative office in Istanbul.

Lectures on doctrine and practice

The channel is built on long-form teaching rather than magazine formats. Scholars explain the principles of the Ahl al-Bayt school, the rules of prayer and fasting, and questions of family life, with series that follow a subject over many episodes. Quran recitation and the supplications of the Imams fill the intervals between lectures.

The calendar of remembrance

Much of the year is organised around the Shia religious calendar. In Muharram and Safar the schedule turns to majalis commemorating Imam Husayn and the events of Karbala, and the channel follows the gatherings held by Turkish and Azerbaijani communities, a subject the group's news department has covered since it was founded in July 2012.

From Baku to Istanbul

Al-Zahra began streaming from Azerbaijan, where the group produced the first Azeri-language programmes under the Al-Zahra name - the foundation's account of the launch names Foundation of Life as the opening programme. The Turkish service followed, and the group now runs an office in Istanbul alongside its headquarters broadcasting.
