Holy Quran Radio Live Stream

Holy Quran Radio - Idha'at al-Quran al-Karim - is the Quran station of the Saudi Broadcasting Authority. It began transmitting from Riyadh on the first of Safar in the year 1393 of the Hijra, which fell in 1972, and it has broadcast around the clock since.

Three quarters recitation

The station's ratio is unusual among religious broadcasters: Quran recitation fills about 75 per cent of its airtime. The remaining quarter is given to the sciences of the Quran, the traditions of the Prophet and religious learning, presented in lessons, lectures and carefully timed repeats. Listeners hear complete recitations by the great readers rather than short excerpts, which is what has given the station its place in Saudi homes and in mosques between prayers.

Light on the Path

Its best-known programme is Nur ala al-Darb, "Light on the Path", a daily question-and-answer session in which senior scholars respond to listeners. Over the decades it has carried the rulings of figures such as Sheikh Abdul Aziz ibn Baz and Sheikh Muhammad ibn Salih al-Uthaymeen, making the station a reference for practical religious questions as well as a source of recitation.

Where it is heard

The station broadcasts on 100 FM in Riyadh and 91.5 FM in Mecca, on 936 medium wave and 17615 short wave, and by satellite on Arabsat, Nilesat and Hot Bird, alongside its stream. Its programmes are prepared by producers and presenters working under scholarly supervision.
