Al Quran Al Kareem TV Live Stream

Al Quran Al Kareem TV - Qanat al-Quran al-Karim - is the Saudi state channel dedicated to the Holy Mosque in Mecca. It went on air on 1 Muharram 1431 of the Hijra, at the end of 2009, in the reign of King Abdullah, and belongs to the Saudi Broadcasting Authority.

Twenty-four hours from the Holy Mosque

The channel broadcasts continuously from the Masjid al-Haram and has never left that view since its launch. Every prayer is carried live from the sanctuary. Outside the prayer times the screen returns to live pictures of the mosque, accompanied by recitations from readers who are famous across the Islamic world - the great Egyptian, Saudi and Levantine voices that the audience already knows from recordings.

The one day it leaves Mecca

There is a single annual exception. On the Day of Arafah the channel leaves the Holy Mosque and transmits from Mount Arafat, covering the central rite of the pilgrimage as the pilgrims gather on the plain. For the rest of the year the camera stays in Mecca.

The Mecca television centre

The channel is produced at the Mecca television centre and its director is Sulaiman al-Aidi. Together with its sister service, the Sunnah TV channel broadcasting from the Prophet's Mosque in Medina, it gives the two holy sanctuaries a permanent, unbroken presence on Saudi television - one channel for the Kaaba, one for the Prophet's Mosque.
