Canal Kin Télévision Live Stream

Canal Kin Télévision (CKTV) is a private general-interest television channel from Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo, founded in 1993. The channel has a documented history of resilience: it survived state confiscation of its signal in 2000-2001 and a studio fire in 2006.

Viewers follow Canal Kin for Congolese general programming - news, music, culture and entertainment for Kinshasa and the DRC.

The station was created by businessman Jean Bemba Saolona during the wave of private broadcasting that followed the liberalisation of the airwaves in 1990, and its name comes from Kin, the familiar short form residents use for Kinshasa.

Confiscation, Fire and Return

On 22 September 2000 the communications minister of Laurent-Désiré Kabila's government confiscated the station and relaunched it on 30 October as RTNC3, a decision linked to the political role of the founder's son, Jean-Pierre Bemba, who had become a rebel leader. On 13 October 2001 a new communications minister returned the channel to its owner, citing the law of 22 June 1996 that guarantees freedom of opinion and expression, and the Canal Kin Télévision name was restored.

On 18 September 2006 a fire destroyed the studios of Canal Kin Télévision and its sister channel Canal Congo Télévision; the group's director-general, Stéphane Kitutu O'Leontwa, suffered severe burns. After going off air on election night, 27 October 2006 - an outage that raised questions in Kinshasa - the station resumed broadcasting on 4 November once its control room was repaired.

Renaissance: The 3N Concept

On 14 October 2024 Canal Kin unveiled a new visual identity and its 3N concept under director-general Maguy Kinkela: Nouveau mot d'ordre, Nouveau programme, Nouvelles installations - a new watchword, a renewed programme schedule and new technical facilities. New formats such as Congo Positif and Innovatech highlight local initiatives and present a more dynamic image of Kinshasa and its surroundings.
