Keszthely TV (Keszthelyi Televízió) is the local television station of Keszthely, a town on the western shore of Lake Balaton in Zala county, Hungary. The station went on air on 25 February 1985 - the first local television in Zala county and the fifth in Hungary - and is owned by the city of Keszthely, operating as a nonprofit company since January 2013.
Reach Across the West Balaton Region
The channel broadcasts around the clock: twelve hours a day are edited programmes and the remaining hours are filled by the Képújság newsreel service. Within Keszthely it reaches about 6,500 cable households, and since 2013 its digital signal has been transmitted on UHF channel 43, covering 37 settlements of the West Balaton region.
News and Public Affairs
The newsroom states impartial, wide-ranging local news coverage as its main task, giving space to differing opinions on public questions. The flagship bulletin is the evening Híradó, aired daily at 19:00 with the news of Keszthely and the surrounding villages. Public affairs are covered by Objektív and the municipal report Önkormányzati Híradó, while Keszthelyi Szemmel follows the everyday life of the town.
Magazines and Cultural Programmes
The grid includes the magazine Szignatúra, the regional Balatoni Mozaik, the seniors' programme Aktív Aranykor, the faith magazine Hittel, Lélekkel and Más-Kép(p). Separate blocks cover sport and leisure, the crime round-up Kék Hírek, culture and gastronomy, and the schedule is completed by Forgószínpad and reports from regional film festivals.
Partners and Funding
The editorial team maintains daily working relationships with Hungary's national providers - MTVA/MTI, M1, M5, Duna TV, Hír TV, RTL Klub and TV2 - and with fellow West Transdanubian local stations Kanizsa TV, Zalaegerszegi TV and Lenti TV. The station's media service activity is supported through the Hungarian Media Council's funding programme.
