Valam TV Dayro Live Stream

Valam TV Dayro is the Gujarati channel of Valam TV devoted to the dayro - the night-long gathering at which singers and storytellers perform the folk and devotional repertoire of Gujarat. It broadcasts in Gujarati and is followed online through its live stream.

What a dayro is

A dayro is not a concert. It is a gathering held at a village or a temple, often through the night, at which performers move between folk song, devotional song, storytelling and moral anecdote, with the audience taking part. Its stars are the dayro artists whose recordings circulate across Gujarat, and its repertoire runs from the love-poetry of the region to the lives of the saints and the epics.

The channel's work

Valam TV Dayro records and broadcasts those performances, which is what makes it distinctive: instead of studio formats, it carries the dayro as it is held, with the singers, the harmonium and the audience in the room. Alongside the recordings it presents the artists themselves and the calendar of gatherings across Saurashtra and the rest of Gujarat.

Watching

The channel broadcasts in standard definition on Indian platforms and streams through the Tango TV infrastructure used by the group, with its programmes also published on its video channel.
