Anand Wari TV Live Stream

Anand Wari TV - आनंद वारी, the pilgrimage of joy - takes its name from the wari, the great walking pilgrimage that carries the saints' images from Alandi and Dehu to Pandharpur in Maharashtra each year. The channel works in Marathi and is devoted to the devotional world that pilgrimage belongs to.

The songs of the saints

Its material is the Marathi bhakti repertoire: abhang and bhajan by the poets of the tradition - Tukaram, Dnyaneshwar, Namdev, Janabai, Eknath - sung by performers who work in that idiom. The channel's own descriptions put the saints' names at the centre, which is accurate: in Maharashtra the devotional tradition is inseparable from its poets.

Coverage of the wari

Beyond the music the channel follows the wari itself: the palkhi processions, the stages of the route, the singing that accompanies the walkers and the arrival at Pandharpur. For the many devotees who cannot walk the route, that coverage is how they take part.

Anand Wari TV broadcasts in standard definition on Indian platforms and streams through the Tango TV infrastructure, with its programmes also published on its video channel.
