Safeer TV online - Television live
Safeer TV Live Stream
Safeer TV is a Muslim channel based in the United Kingdom that presents the teaching of Ahl al-Bayt to an English-speaking audience. Its producers have worked on the channel since 2008, and the stated aim is to offer an alternative to mainstream television with material that is both religiously and socially accepted.
The team describes itself as having no set political affiliation, with a single purpose of spreading the message of the school of Ahlulbayt.
Karbala and the Arbaeen Season
The channel's strongest output comes around Muharram and Arbaeen. Imam Hussain – Lessons from Karbala is a series of discussions with scholars and guests, and documentary strands follow the Arbaeen walk from Najaf to Karbala.
Coverage has included the founder of the first Arbaeen procession in London in 1982, and programmes on the women of Karbala and their role in preserving the message of the stand at Karbala.
Teaching and Community
Lecture series present the thought of Ahl al-Bayt with reference to recognised scholarship, and the channel explicitly links the religious authority of Najaf with English-speaking Muslim communities in the West. Educational tutorials deal with belief, practice and history.
Interviews turn to the lives of Muslims in Britain, including converts, community workers and figures from public life, and document how religious identity is lived outside the Muslim world.
Children and Young Viewers
Children's programming is produced in English, with quiz formats that test young viewers on their beliefs and on the significance of Muharram. The channel describes this as a response to the shortage of Islamic media made for children in the West.
Broadcasting
Safeer TV broadcasts live from heritage sites including Karbala, Najaf, Kadhmain and Mashhad, and distributes its schedule online through its own site and its Safeer World channel.
