Akaal Channel Live Stream

Akaal Channel is a Punjabi-language, Sikh-based broadcaster working from Birmingham and on air since September 2013. Its stated objective is Delivering Sikh Values Worldwide, and it presents itself as an independent outlet not owned by corporations, organisations or politicians.

The channel says it follows the Sikh Maryada and the principles of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, and it is funded by donations from the Sangat rather than by commercial ownership.

Panthak News and Analysis

News is the channel's main business. Bulletins cover events affecting Sikh communities in Britain, Punjab and the diaspora, and the channel gives prominent space to Panthak affairs: decisions of Sikh institutions, disputes within the community and the treatment of Sikhs abroad.

Analysis and research-based programmes follow the bulletins, with studio discussions and interviews. The channel also produces stories on politics in Punjab and on Sikh political organisations, presented from an explicitly Sikh standpoint rather than a general news agenda.

Prayer and Religious Programming

Nitnem prayers and Gurbani readings are broadcast during the day, and the channel covers major Sikh festivals and gatherings. Religious discussion examines the application of Sikh teaching to contemporary questions.

Broadcasting from Birmingham

Akaal Channel operates from 68-82 Soho Hill in Birmingham and distributes its signal by satellite and online, with a dedicated live page for UK viewers. Its output is in Punjabi, with English used in interviews where required.
