UCTV Live Stream
UCTV is the University of California's own television service, a 24-hour channel that carries faculty lectures, research presentations and public programs from the ten UC campuses, the university's national laboratories and its affiliated institutions to viewers around the world.
Ten Campuses, One Channel
Launched in 2000 and operated from the University of California, San Diego, UCTV gathers the knowledge generated across the UC system - from Berkeley and UCLA to Davis and San Francisco - and packages it as continuing education for the public. Programs from the Lawrence Livermore, Los Alamos and Lawrence Berkeley national laboratories join campus productions in the same schedule.
Lectures as Television
The backbone of the channel is the recorded lecture: Nobel laureates and up-and-coming researchers explain their work in depth, public affairs panels debate policy, and authors discuss books with campus interviewers. Series follow themes across weeks rather than minutes, treating the audience as students rather than channel surfers.
Medicine, Science and the Arts
Health programming draws on the UC medical schools with grand rounds and mini-medical courses for lay viewers, science documentaries profile research underway across the system, and performance programs carry music and theater from campus stages. Documentary strands round out the schedule with long-form explorations of history, food systems and the environment.
Knowledge Around the Clock
UCTV streams its feed around the clock on its own site and video platforms, with an on-demand archive of thousands of programs, so the university's lectures, symposia and performances remain available long after the seminar room empties.
