CBS News Pittsburgh Live Stream
CBS News Pittsburgh is the local streaming news service built around KDKA-TV, channel 2, branded CBS Pittsburgh. The station is owned and operated by CBS Television Stations alongside the independent station WPKD-TV, channel 19, and the two share studios at the Gateway Center in Downtown Pittsburgh.
Its transmitter stands in the city's Perry North neighbourhood, on the northern heights that serve the metropolitan area.
The Station
KDKA's establishment grew out of the post-war ambition of the Pittsburgh-based Westinghouse Electric Corporation to expand in radio, after the company had built transmitters and receivers for military use during the First World War. The radio station became one of the most famous call signs in American broadcasting, and the television service followed on channel 2 in 1949.
KDKA-TV is one of the few CBS stations east of the Mississippi carrying a K call sign, together with its sister station KYW-TV in Philadelphia.
Streaming Output
The service carries western Pennsylvania's reporting beyond the broadcast schedule: breaking stories from the city and the surrounding counties, weather and winter road conditions, Allegheny County politics, crime and the courts, and coverage of the region's universities, hospitals and the energy industry that has reshaped the local economy.
Sport has a strong place, with the city's professional teams and the college programmes that draw audiences across the region.
Access
CBS News Pittsburgh streams continuously over the internet from the CBS interactive video network and is available through the CBS News website, app and connected televisions.
