TV channels Luxembourg
Luxembourg is a small country with an outsized broadcasting heritage - and its television life is concentrated in a single flagship channel.
The Grand Duchy's Main Channel
RTL Télé Lëtzebuerg is Luxembourg's principal television channel, broadcasting in Luxembourgish as part of RTL Group. Its grid carries the national news in the De Journal editions, magazines, talk, culture and entertainment for the Luxembourgish-speaking audience - the daily reference point of the country's television life.
A Broadcaster Older Than Most of Europe's TV
Luxembourg's television history began on 23 January 1955, when the privately owned Compagnie Luxembourgeoise de Télédiffusion launched Télé Luxembourg - one of the earliest private television services on the continent. The CLT merged with Bertelsmann's UFA in 1997 to form CLT-UFA, and in 2000 the combined group became part of today's RTL Group, which keeps its headquarters at Kirchberg in Luxembourg City. The channel is the direct descendant of that service: national television that grew into the headquarters country of one of Europe's largest media groups.
