TV channels Ireland
Three of Ireland's public-service voices are gathered here: the national newsroom, the Irish-language broadcaster, and the parliament's own channel. Between them they cover the country's day in English and in Irish, from breaking news to budget debates.
The National Newsroom
RTÉ News is the news division of Raidió Teilifís Éireann, Ireland's national public broadcaster - the newsroom of record for the Republic. Its rolling service runs around the clock through the RTÉ News Now channel, carrying headlines, live events and analysis as the country's day unfolds.
In the National Language
TG4 is the free-to-air public service channel broadcasting in Irish. It launched on 31 October 1996 - first as Teilifís na Gaeilge, taking the TG4 name in 1999 - and its grid still runs the breadth of Irish-language life: documentaries, music, drama, current affairs, sport and a full children's service.
Democracy on Screen
Oireachtas TV is the dedicated channel of the Houses of the Oireachtas, Ireland's parliament. A full channel since 2014, it carries Dáil Éireann debates, Seanad sessions and committee hearings live and unedited, gavel to gavel - in both English and Irish, exactly as spoken in the chamber.
From a breaking story to a long evening in the committee rooms, Irish public television keeps the record of the Republic on the air.
