Parliament of Australia online - Television live
Parliament of Australia Live Stream
The Parliament of Australia broadcast brings the federal legislature in Canberra to television screens, carrying live coverage of the House of Representatives and the Senate as well as committee hearings from Parliament House. The service is administered by the Department of Parliamentary Services, the agency that supports both chambers, and streams live whenever Parliament sits.
Question Time, Debates and Committees
Coverage follows the parliamentary calendar. On sitting days the schedule centres on chamber proceedings - Question Time, debates on legislation and ministerial statements - while non-sitting periods fill the grid with the committee system, including Senate estimates hearings that scrutinise government departments and budgets. Broadcasts also cover events held at Parliament House, and proceedings remain available on demand after each sitting.
ParlView, the Streaming Portal and ParlTV
Distribution runs through three services. ParlView is the parliament's own video portal for live and archived proceedings, while the Australian Parliament House Streaming Portal on YouTube carries live streams that the department embeds directly on the official parliamentary website. Inside the building itself, ParlTV operates as an in-house television and radio service. Official recordings are produced by the parliament's broadcasting operations, with camera work credited to AUSPIC, and copies of proceedings can be requested through the department.
