TV channels Brazil
Brazilian television is built on a handful of national networks whose affiliates reach practically every municipality, and around them grows an unusually deep layer of specialized broadcasting: newsrooms that never sign off, churches that run their own national networks, television made for the countryside and for the cattle trade, chambers of deputies and state assemblies on air, universities with their own studios, and local stations from the Amazon to Rio Grande do Sul.
Networks that reach the whole country
SBT is the entertainment network founded by Silvio Santos in 1981, still built around variety shows, journalism and sport. RedeTV! broadcasts from São Paulo with entertainment, journalism and sport, Rede CNT runs as the National Television Central, and Rede Brasil de Televisão puts out general programming from Campo Grande. TV Cultura is São Paulo's public cultural channel, long associated with education and the arts, while Amazon Sat speaks for the Amazon region and TV Gazeta carries the Cásper Líbero Foundation's output. Network logic also shows up in the affiliates: SBT Interior for the interior of São Paulo state, TV Band RS for Rio Grande do Sul, TV Band MT for Mato Grosso and TV Tarobá, the Band affiliate broadcasting from Cascavel to western Paraná.
Newsrooms that never sign off
Record News is the Record group's news channel and BandNews TV the 24-hour service of the Bandeirantes group. CNN Brasil brought the CNN brand to Brazilian screens in 2020, and Jovem Pan News turned one of the country's biggest radio groups into a television news operation. TV Brasil Central reports from Goiânia for the centre-west and TV Diário from Fortaleza. Regional desks keep their own bulletins too, among them TV Band MT in Mato Grosso, TV Vila Real, SICtv and Tv Osório News on the southern coast.
Faith as a broadcasting genre
Religious television in Brazil is a full industry. TV Aparecida is the national Catholic network founded by the Church in Aparecida, Redevida is the Catholic family network known as the Network of Life, and Canção Nova TV belongs to the Canção Nova community. TV Evangelizar is the network built by Padre Reginaldo Manzotti, Rede Século 21 and TV Pai Eterno add further Catholic voices, and TV Mundo Maior speaks for Spiritism. On the evangelical side Novo Tempo TV is the Seventh-day Adventist network, Rit TV belongs to the International Church of the Grace of God, Rede Super comes out of Belo Horizonte's Lagoinha Church, Boa Vontade TV is run by the Legion of Good Will, and Igreja Universal, IMPD TV, Boas Novas, Fonte TV, Igreja Cristo Vive TV, Rede Mundial Curitiba and Tv Confiego fill the gospel end of the schedule.
Television for the countryside
Canal Rural is the country's reference agribusiness channel, broadcasting from São Paulo for producers and the farm trade. AgroBrasil TV covers agriculture for the interior, Canal do Boi has made cattle ranching its whole subject, and Agro Canal and Rural Tv carry auctions, prices and rural reporting.
Congress, assemblies and the courts
TV Câmara transmits the work of the Chamber of Deputies and TV Senado that of the Federal Senate, both carrying sessions and committees live. State legislatures run their own channels: TV Alerj in Rio de Janeiro, Tv Assembléia Alagoas, Tv Assembléia Bahia and TV Almg for the Minas Gerais assembly. The judiciary has Just TV, broadcasting the work of Brazil's courts.
States, cities and neighbourhoods
Local television is where the country's variety shows up. TV Metrópole is Fortaleza's channel 16, TVE RS the public broadcaster of Rio Grande do Sul, Aperipê TV speaks for Sergipe, TV Aldeia for Acre and TV Nova Nordeste for the north-east. TV MAX RIO and Tv Carioca are Rio de Janeiro's own screens, Santa Cecilia TV covers Santos, TV Pocos the spa town of Poços de Caldas, Portal Jaguaruna Santa Catarina's coast, Tv Aracati HD Ceará's interior, TV Mocinha Balneário Camboriú, ViaMorena Mato Grosso do Sul, RBATV the north, Rede NGT and Tela Viva Tv the community end, Meio Norte Mais Piauí, TV Tropical Rio Grande do Norte, TV Cidade Canal 9 and Tv Transamerica the big cities, and allTV - one of Brazil's first independent online stations - São Paulo.
Cartoons, classrooms and cinema
Anime Tv and AniTV serve Brazil's enormous anime audience, Cartoon Network runs its Brazilian feed, Retro Cartoon channel keeps the classic cartoons in rotation and Pocoyo em Português speaks to the youngest viewers in Portuguese. Education has Tv Escola with school programming, TV Preve, UnBTV from the University of Brasília and Faap TV from Fundação Armando Álvares Penteado. Films and series get Runtime Ação for action, Canal 29 for classic series, GLN TV and Tv Pop Brasil for cinema and pop culture, Rede Clouding for variety and D + TV for music and fun.
Sport, music and the kitchen
TNT Sports Brasil holds the football and live-event shelf. Music runs from KpopTV Play with Korean pop to Top Mix TV out of São Paulo, and food gets its own channel in Canal K, which today operates as the culinary project Chef TV+. Rede Mais Família and Mega TV round out the family and general entertainment end.
