NPY online - Television live
NPY Live Stream
NPY, short for Noticias Paraguay, is a Paraguayan over-the-air television channel owned by Grupo Vierci. It launched on 17 April 2017 as the first all-news channel in the country and began life as a cable service, a move that prompted its competitor SNT to set up C9N.
From Cable to Terrestrial
In November 2016 Grupo Vierci reserved channels 15 in standard definition and 705 in high definition on the Tigo Star platform for the new service, originally planned for that month. From the start the channel drew on staff and resources from the group's three existing networks, Telefuturo, La Tele and Red Guaraní.
On 1 January 2019 NPY moved onto the terrestrial network, taking over the transmitters of Red Guaraní, which the group decided to close, and inheriting its place in cable line-ups. The cable slot the channel vacated was given to E40 TV. Until the terrestrial launch, NPY programmes had been carried on La Tele in the 6-8 a.m. and 1-2 p.m. slots, where they drew good ratings.
Desde el Interior and the news day
The channel's day begins early. Desde el Interior opens at five, followed by Misa Diaria and Buenos Días Paraguay at seven. Turno Mañana runs through the morning, Urbana Sports covers sport at noon, and NPY Ahora follows at one.
Afternoon and evening slots include En Voz Alta, Turno Tarde, Políticamente Yncorrecto, El Extra de FALG, Sin Vueltas and La Jornada at nine. En Contexto and Paraguay Productivo close the evening, with a repeat of the Telediario.
Distribution
NPY broadcasts on analog transmitters inherited from Red Guaraní and digitally on channel 18.1, and streams around the clock through its own website and applications.
