Ñandutí TV is the television service of Radio Ñandutí, one of Paraguay's best-known broadcasters. The station transmits on AM 1020 kHz under the callsign ZP 14, and its news output, the Boletín Gigante, is a familiar name in Paraguayan journalism.
History of the Station
The frequency has a long record. It was founded in 1930 as ZP 14 Radio Mariscal López, and on 29 November 1962 it was established in its present form as Radio Ñandutí 1020 AM, with Humberto Rubin as founder. Its first premises stood on Antequera 654, near Azara.
The station had repeated difficulties with the dictatorship of Alfredo Stroessner. In July 1983 the interior minister Sabino Montanaro ordered its transmissions suspended for a month, on the grounds that its broadcasts disturbed public order and created alarm, and in 1985 Antelco ordered a ten-day suspension. It was closed again by the regime in 1987.
In December 2022 the station was sold to Grupo Espínola, owned by Carlos Raúl Espínola, who also owns Banco Continental.
Television Output
Ñandutí TV extends that journalistic tradition to screen. The channel carries news bulletins, interviews and live coverage of events in Asunción and across the country, with the same emphasis on public affairs that made the radio station's information service known.
Its website publishes full programmes for later viewing, so interviews and reports remain available after transmission.
Where to Watch
The channel streams continuously over the internet, and the signal is also listed by Paraguayan online television catalogues, where it is grouped with the country's news channels.
