WHPR TV 33 Live Stream

WHPR TV 33 is Detroit's independent community station - African-American-owned television covering the city with local talk, music and public affairs since the 1980s. Its live player streams the signal online.

Viewers follow WHPR for the talk shows and call-ins where Detroit argues and laughs, the gospel and soul programming, and the neighborhood stories the network stations drive past.

Detroit's Community Voice

The grid is Detroit-made: local talk shows and call-ins where the city argues and laughs, gospel and soul music programming, community affairs coverage, church services, and the neighborhood stories the network stations drive past - the full range the station's own description promises, from live programming and news to weather and music entertainment.

A Motor City Original

WHPR has survived for decades as one of the country's few Black-owned independent stations - a shoestring operation with an outsized place in Detroit's media culture. The station's home on 313 Watkins carries the name of the Detroit address it broadcasts from.

About WHPR

As the Motor City's community screen, WHPR remains what independent urban television has always meant - the city's own voice, on air when the big networks moved on. For Detroit's neighborhoods and the audience that grew up with channel 33, the station keeps the community's television running around the clock.
