Kurdsat News is a Kurdish news television channel based in Iraq. Its coverage centres on developments in the Kurdistan Region while also following events across the country and the wider region. The station is part of the Kurdsat media family, whose operations are rooted in Sulaymaniyah. Its reporting brings local affairs and regional news into a dedicated Kurdish language news service.

News from the Kurdistan Region

The channel’s official news platform describes its work as reporting local, regional and international events, with particular attention to the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. This focus places community developments alongside political and public affairs that affect the region. Coverage from Sulaymaniyah connects the newsroom with the city and the surrounding governorates, while stories from elsewhere in Iraq add a national perspective.

A dedicated news service

Kurdsat News is distinct from the broader Kurdsat television channel. It concentrates on news and current affairs, with a separate identity and dedicated news coverage. The official site publishes reporting in Kurdish and also maintains Arabic and English language sections, reflecting the multilingual setting in which the channel operates.

A newsroom rooted in Sulaymaniyah

Sulaymaniyah is an important centre for Kurdish media and public life. Kurdsat’s broadcasting organisation was established in the city in 2000, and its channels have developed from that 2000 Sulaymaniyah base. Kurdsat News carries the newsroom tradition into a focused service for people following events in Iraqi Kurdistan and neighbouring areas. Its regional base gives local developments a prominent place in its reporting.

The channel’s work encompasses political, social and regional developments. Reports cover public affairs and events affecting communities, while the wider regional outlook places Kurdish stories within the broader context of Iraq and its neighbours. This combination shapes the channel’s role as a specialised news outlet within the Kurdsat media group.

Language and regional perspective

Kurdsat News serves Kurdish language audiences and follows issues that matter to people in the Kurdistan Region and beyond. Its reporting connects local events with regional affairs, giving the channel a perspective grounded in Sulaymaniyah and attentive to developments across the Middle East. The official platform’s separate language sections also make its reporting accessible to Kurdish, Arabic and English readers.

As part of a long standing Kurdish broadcasting organisation, Kurdsat News contributes a dedicated news voice to the media landscape of Iraqi Kurdistan. Its identity combines a regional newsroom, Kurdish language reporting and attention to local, national and international news.
