Fox 4 Dallas Live Stream

Fox 4 - KDFW, virtual channel 4 - is the Fox network's owned-and-operated station for the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, broadcasting from studios on North Griffin Street in downtown Dallas with a transmitter in Cedar Hill. On the air since 3 December 1949, it serves one of the country's largest television markets with Fox programming and one of the biggest local news operations in the United States, and its newsroom runs a 24-hour live news stream online.

The station presently broadcasts more than 77 hours of locally produced newscasts each week - one of the highest news outputs of any American station - from the heart of a metroplex that keeps growing faster than almost any other.

Good Day and the Fox 4 Newsroom

The broadcast day begins with Good Day, the long-running morning program that has started at 4 a.m. since 2018 and runs deep into the morning, followed by Fox 4 News editions at midday, in the early evening and late at night. The weather team carries particular weight in a market at the southern edge of tornado alley, where spring storm systems and North Texas hail demand round-the-clock tracking; the station's newscasts have been in high definition since 2009.

Local news has been the station's spine since it was built by a newspaper, the Dallas Times Herald. As CBS affiliate KRLD-TV, channel 4 was the network's home base for coverage of the Kennedy assassination in November 1963 - news director Eddie Barker was the first person to announce the president's death on television, and a channel 4 camera crew filmed Jack Ruby's shooting of Lee Harvey Oswald two days later. The weekly 4 Country Reporter, hosted by Bob Phillips from 1972, became one of the best-loved programs in Texas television history.

Cowboys, Rangers and Stars on Channel 4

KDFW has been the primary television station of the Dallas Cowboys since 1960, when the NFL's Cowboys debuted on CBS - and the move of the NFC package to Fox in 1994 reshaped the station's future, bringing channel 4 into the Fox family. Fox's national baseball contract has carried Texas Rangers coverage since 1996, and Dallas Stars hockey joined the schedule under a 2025 arrangement splitting games between channel 4 and sister station KDFI.

From KRLD-TV to Fox

Channel 4 signed on as KRLD-TV on 3 December 1949, the third station in the Dallas-Fort Worth market, carrying CBS programming inherited from the Times Herald's radio station. It became KDFW-TV in 1970 under Times Mirror ownership and switched to Fox on 2 July 1995 as part of the New World realignment, ending forty-five years with CBS; News Corporation's purchase of New World made it a Fox owned-and-operated station in January 1997. Today Fox 4 operates alongside MyNetworkTV sister station KDFI, and its signal reaches across North Texas from the Cedar Hill antenna farm.
