ITN - the Independent Television Network - is where television in Sri Lanka began: launched in 1979, it was the island's first TV channel and remains one of its most-watched, broadcasting in Sinhala from Colombo.

The pioneer became an institution, and its news theme music is still recognized by three generations at once.
