UCSG TV Live Stream

UCSG TV is the television service of the Universidad Católica de Santiago de Guayaquil in Ecuador, with programming in education, culture, information and sport.

Teleclases con Trompos y Trompetas

The university has documented an educational television project under that name, made for children and families and covering school subjects. It is the clearest example of what a university channel is for: the campus's teaching expertise turned into broadcasts that reach households which have no access to the classroom.

Education and university life

UCSG describes television as a way to share learning and knowledge beyond the campus, and its communications include academic content and community education tied to university activities. A university channel works from its faculties' research and its students' productions, which keeps costs low and content specialised.

Culture, news and sport

Alongside education the channel carries culture, news and information and sport, including university competition. Those categories give the service a general character rather than a purely academic one, which is what a university broadcaster needs to reach an audience outside its own community.

Guayaquil

Guayaquil is Ecuador's largest city and its commercial port, and the Catholic University of Santiago de Guayaquil is one of its older private institutions. The city's television tradition is commercial rather than public, so a university channel occupies a distinct place in the local media landscape.
