Ratnik (Warrior) is a Russian social and educational television channel that says it is aimed primarily at young viewers. The channel presents itself as a project about people and their work, including workers, doctors, athletes, scientists and volunteers. It launched on 17 April 2017. Its stated goals include introducing Russian history and geography, highlighting historical events and drawing attention to the achievements of people in different professions.

History, culture and everyday work

According to the channel’s published description, its 24-hour schedule includes Russian historical films, Soviet cartoons, educational and science programmes, documentaries, fiction films and themed educational content. The site organizes its editorial material into sections such as Heroes of the Fatherland, Science, Culture, Sport and Facts. This broader mix means Ratnik is not limited to military history: its stated subjects also include culture, science, sport and the lives of people whose work is rarely in the spotlight.

Documentaries and online viewing

At the time of review, the official homepage listed the documentary Istoriya svyazi v litsakh (The History of Communications Through People): Valery Timofeev, “Koleso fortuny” (Wheel of Fortune) in its live-player area. The channel says viewers can find its programmes and broadcast on its website and through television and online platforms. Its schedule and available titles can change, so the homepage is the source for current listings.
