TRT EBA TV Ortaokul was created as Turkey’s middle-school educational television service within the EBA distance-learning initiative. TRT and the Ministry of National Education launched the EBA TV channels on 23 March 2020, after schools moved to remote instruction during the COVID-19 pandemic. Ortaokul was the middle-school service alongside separate primary- and high-school channels.

The project brought televised lessons to pupils who needed access to national-curriculum classes from home. The middle-school strand was intended for grades 5 through 8. Official ministry schedules announced dedicated weekly lesson plans for TRT EBA TV Ortaokul during the 2020–21 school year.

Lessons by grade

The TRT EBA schedule includes Din Kültürü ve Ahlak Bilgisi-5 Ortaokul (Grade 5 Religious Culture and Ethics), Matematik-6 Ortaokul (Grade 6 Mathematics), Türkçe-7 Ortaokul (Grade 7 Turkish), İngilizce-7 Ortaokul (Grade 7 English) and İnkılap Tarihi ve Atatürkçülük-8 (Grade 8 History of the Turkish Revolution and Atatürkism). These subject lessons are identified by grade in the published schedule.

Exam preparation and curriculum

LGS’ye Doğru (Towards the High School Entrance Exam) is also listed in the TRT EBA schedule. The programme complements the grade-specific classes with preparation for the national transition exam to high school. TRT’s current EBA schedule continues to show lessons for middle-school grades as part of its wider educational programming.
