Aaj Tak is India's leading 24-hour Hindi news channel, owned by the TV Today Network of the India Today Group. It began in 1995 as a ten-to-twenty-minute news programme on Doordarshan's DD Metro, and became an independent news channel in December 2000 - the first complete Hindi news channel in the country to broadcast twenty-four hours, and the first Indian news channel to use OB vans.

Viewers follow Aaj Tak for Indian and world news, politics, Bollywood, business and sport.

Aaj Tak Programs

The channel's grid is built around rolling news bulletins, debate programmes and special reports covering politics, entertainment, Bollywood, business and sports. Its long-running interview show was Seedhi Baat, hosted by Prabhu Chawla; on the HD sister service, Duniya Aaj Tak carries world news and Business Aaj Tak the financial news of India and the world.

From DD Metro to the AI Anchor

The channel's early tagline was "That's all the news for today, wait until tomorrow." On 14 December 2018 it launched Aaj Tak HD, India's first Hindi high-definition channel, and rebranded in January 2021. In March 2023 the India Today Group introduced Sana, the nation's first AI-powered news anchor, delivering daily updates in multiple languages. The channel broadcasts across India, with executive editors Anjana Om Kashyap and Sweta Singh among its newsroom's faces.
