MITV (Myanmar International Television) is the state-owned English-language channel of Myanmar, based in Yangon. Its schedule mixes local, Asian and world news with business, technology, entertainment and sports coverage.

Viewers follow MITV for English-language news from Myanmar, the MI Live programme, features and documentaries, and strands such as Let's Cook and Now In Myanmar; Myanmar Mosaic carries cookery, culture and tourism about the country.

From MRTV-3 to Myanmar International

The channel first launched on 1 August 2001 as MRTV-3 - the third television channel of Myanmar, after MRTV (1980) and Myawaddy TV (1995) - financed with a 1-million-dollar grant from Japan and broadcast on the Thaicom 3 satellite. In April 2010 it was rebranded as Myanmar International Television, growing to a 24-hour worldwide service viewable in 156 countries, with news exchange agreements with CCTV, NHK, Arirang TV and CFI.

The channel states its purpose as threefold: to inform, to educate and to entertain the public - the English voice of Myanmar's state broadcasting to the world.
