Telecaribe online - Television live
Telecaribe Live Stream
Telecaribe is Colombia's first regional channel - the free-to-air television station that has served the country's Caribbean region since 1986 from its base in Barranquilla. Its signal covers the seven departments of the Atlantic coast, and its programming - news, culture, sport and entertainment - is made for and by the region, with the live signal also streaming online.
Four decades on the air have made the channel the Caribbean coast's own screen: a regional station that started before any other in Colombia and survived every change in national television.
Born in Valledupar, Based in Barranquilla
The channel was founded on 28 April 1986, presented during the Festival de la Leyenda Vallenata in Valledupar, with permanent transmissions starting that same day from its broadcast center in Barranquilla. On 10 October 1986 the first official programming began, commissioned to production companies drawn from the region's seven departments, giving the channel the regional identity it still carries. It was preceded by an experimental station called Televallenato, which is why Telecaribe is recognized as Colombia's first regional channel, and it is a member of the Ibero-American Association of Educational and Cultural Televisions.
The Seven-Department Signal
Telecaribe's footprint is one of the largest regional territories in the country, covering the Atlantic coast and its interior. From Barranquilla, the region's capital, the channel reaches the coasts of Magdalena and Sucre, the cattle country of Cesar and Córdoba, and the Guajira peninsula to the north. The programming follows the region's life: the carnival of Barranquilla, the vallenato festivals, the region's sports and its news.
Four Decades On the Air
The station has been through every era of Colombian television - from the first regional concessions to the digital platform Telecaribe Play that carries the live signal and the archive today, and the slogan that currently accompanies the channel, uniendo la región (uniting the region), says what it has always tried to do. For the coast of Colombia - and the Caribbean diaspora around the world - it remains the first regional channel of the country, and still the reference screen of the region.
