ARD Alpha online - Television live

ARD Alpha Live Stream

ARD alpha is the educational channel of the ARD public broadcasting network, run by Bayerischer Rundfunk with programs on science, education and lifelong learning. On air since 1998 as BR-alpha and renamed ARD alpha in 2014, it streams its live signal online.

Viewers follow ARD alpha for school lessons and university lectures, language courses and science documentaries - learning for every age, from the first school years to retirement.

Lessons to Lectures

The schedule runs on educational blocks through the day: school programs in the morning hours, language courses and science magazines in the daytime, and the evening brings documentaries, university lectures and the channel's culture and history strands.

Learning for Every Age

ARD alpha's remit is lifelong learning in the public-broadcasting tradition - the school pupil catching up on a subject, the student following a lecture series, the retiree learning a language. Its school and study programs partner with the education system, while its science strands explain the world behind the news.

About ARD alpha

Launched on 7 January 1998 under Bayerischer Rundfunk's leadership and renamed on 29 June 2014, ARD alpha remains the German-language screen of education - the ARD's own answer to the question of what public television owes the curious. For everyone learning anything at any age, it keeps the lesson, the lecture and the documentary on air around the clock.
