CCTN 47 Live Stream
CCTN 47 - the Cebu Catholic Television Network - is the first Catholic television station in the Philippines. It went on air in 2002, before TV Maria began broadcasting on pay television in 2007, and it was the second Catholic channel to launch in Southeast Asia.
How it began
The station was founded by its president, Nonito 'Dodong' Limchua, who came to television from the cable business. With his wife Diana he ran family relationship programmes promoting Gospel values, and the couple took their idea to the Archbishop of Cebu, Cardinal Ricardo Vidal, who supported it. Their model was the American Catholic broadcasters EWTN and Catholic TV, adapted to Philippine conditions: professional coverage of Church events, documentaries and the issues facing the Church in the country.
Ownership and base
CCTN is jointly owned by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Cebu and the Fil-Products Group of Companies, with the Global Broadcasting System as its terrestrial broadcaster. Its facilities stand at the CCTN Broadcast Center on Cardinal Rosales Avenue, in the Cebu Business Park in Cebu City - a permanent base for a channel that began with a family's idea.
What it broadcasts
The schedule follows the Catholic year in Cebuano and Filipino: the Mass, the rosary and devotional programmes, teaching and catechesis, coverage of archdiocesan events and news from the Church in the Visayas. Its programming is carried on free-to-air and cable television across Cebu and the surrounding islands, and streamed online for viewers further afield.
