ERT2 Sport is a Greek free-to-air television channel owned and operated by the Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation (ERT), the country's public broadcaster. Based at the Broadcasting House in Athens and available nationwide on DVB-T, it is the corporation's second television channel alongside ERT1, ERT3, ERT News and ERT Cosmos. Since 4 October 2025 the channel has been repositioned as ERT2 Sport with all-sports programming, backed by a cooperation protocol with the Hellenic Olympic Committee running until the end of 2027.

From military television to NET

The channel traces its origins to 27 February 1966, when the Hellenic Armed Forces launched a second Greek television service known as TED. In 1970 it became YENED, the Armed Forces Information Service, carrying news, sport, music and drama. On 3 November 1982 YENED passed under civilian control and was renamed ERT2. When ERT merged its television operations in 1987 the channel became ET2, and on 20 October 1997 it was restructured as a news and information channel under the name NET (Nea Elliniki Tileorasi - New Hellenic Television), with documentaries and sport in its schedule.

Shutdown and relaunch

On 11 June 2013 the Greek government announced the closure of ERT and NET was taken off air. ERT staff kept the channel going via satellite and internet with the help of the European Broadcasting Union until 7 November 2013, when police forces entered the ERT headquarters and cut the broadcast. When ERT was relaunched on 11 June 2015, the channel returned to the air as ERT2, technically replacing NERIT Plus.

ERT2 programming before the sports rebrand

In its post-relaunch years ERT2 offered a generalist mix of documentaries, talk shows, current affairs, children's programmes and culture. Its best-known magazine formats included Athens Tower, a Saturday-evening guide to the events and people of the capital, and the arts conversation The Era of Images hosted by Katerina Zacharopoulou.

ERT2 Sport

The October 2025 rebrand turned ERT2 into Greece's public sports channel. ERT2 Sport concentrates on live events and sports coverage under the ERT umbrella, continuing a sporting tradition that has accompanied the channel since the YENED era and through the years of NET. The channel broadcasts in 1080i high definition and streams through ERTFLIX, the corporation's digital platform.
