Alabbassia TV Live Stream

Alabbassia TV - قناة عباسية الحسينية - is an Iraqi Shia devotional channel broadcasting in high definition. Its site opens with the salutation to Imam Husayn, al-salamu alayka ya aba Abdillah al-Husayn, and the channel's work follows from that devotion.

A devotional instrument

What distinguishes the channel is how practical its site is: it calculates the Ja'fari prayer times for the viewer's country, shows the next prayer and the day's observances, and lists the nearest occasions of the religious calendar - Eid al-Adha, Eid al-Ghadir and the rest - with the days remaining to each. The television output mirrors that: prayers, recitations and the observances carried as they fall.

Teaching and devotion

Alongside the devotional material the channel carries teaching on the Ahl al-Bayt, including a series on Imam al-Mahdi - the twelfth Imam - and on the meaning of his occultation and awaited return, together with programmes on the conduct of the believer and on the history of Karbala. The register is that of the Iraqi shrine tradition, with recitation and lament at its centre.
