Media Kavshiri is a Georgian television channel carrying news, talk and community programming, published online alongside its broadcast output.

News and talk in Georgian

The channel's schedule combines news bulletins with studio discussion, and community programming addresses local issues and events. Georgian-language output is the norm for domestic channels, and talk formats carry most of the political argument in a market where studio debate is cheaper than reporting from the regions.

Georgia's television market

Georgia has a small market of about 3.7 million people and a handful of national channels, most of them owned by or aligned with political and business interests. Independent outlets work with limited advertising and depend on grants, which shapes both their schedules and their survival.

Tbilisi and beyond

Broadcasting is concentrated in the capital, where production facilities, advertisers and political institutions sit. Channels that cover the regions do so with stringers and occasional trips, which leaves most of the country outside the daily news agenda.
