CTN — the Christian Television Network — was founded in Florida in 1979, when the state's first Christian television station signed on the air. The network's official history names Bob and Molly D'Andrea as its founders and WCLF in Tampa as the flagship station.

From that single station the organisation grew into a national network of affiliates, with a programme catalogue of its own rather than a schedule bought in whole from elsewhere.

WCLF and the D'Andrea years

WCLF began broadcasting on 24 October 1979 and remains the network's flagship, carrying worship, music and teaching alongside family programming.

Twenty-four affiliates across the United States

CTN says 24 affiliate Christian stations have been launched since its founding. The structure connects the network's programming with regional broadcasters, while the network keeps its own national catalogue, and it puts the potential audience at roughly 50 million television households.

Christian Music Countdown and the original catalogue

The network's own productions include Christian Music Countdown, Choices: Real Life Stories, Come Home, CrossFlex TV, Gospel Country and Christian Fitness, which together cover music, testimony, faith and lifestyle subjects. National ministry programmes are scheduled alongside them.

CTNi for international audiences

An international satellite service, CTNi, extends the network beyond the United States; CTN describes its potential reach as some 500 million people, carrying the same editorial line outside the affiliate map.
