MS NOW online - Television live
MS NOW Live Stream
MS NOW, formerly MSNBC, is an American cable news channel owned by Versant. It broadcasts rolling news coverage and opinion journalism, and its studios are in Versant's world headquarters at 229 West 43rd Street in New York City, with a bureau in Washington co-located with NBC News and technical operations run from CNBC's studios in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey.
History
The channel was established in 1996 as MSNBC, a joint venture between NBC News and Microsoft, whose name combined MSN and NBC and which covered both the cable channel and the MSNBC.com portal. Microsoft sold its stake in the television channel in 2005 and its share of the website in 2012; the site was rebranded as NBCNews.com, and MSNBC.com was later relaunched for editorial content from the network's presenters.
It began with rolling news, long-form reports and material contributed by NBC affiliates, and by the late 2000s shifted mainly to opinion journalism. The change of name to MS NOW came with the spin-off of the cable channels into Versant.
Programming and Standing
The line-up includes Morning Joe, The Rachel Maddow Show and the network's evening opinion block, together with daytime news and interview programmes. Among American cable news channels the company ranks second in ratings, well behind Fox News and ahead of CNN; as of July 2026 The Rachel Maddow Show was the seventh-ranked news programme by audience, with the top six all on Fox News.
