Amu TV Live Stream

Amu TV is an independent satellite television channel owned and operated by Eye Media Group. It broadcasts in Persian and Pashto, and it was launched on 3 May 2023 to carry news and entertainment to Afghan society, promote press freedom and support the rights of women and journalists despite the Taliban's restrictions on the media in Afghanistan.

Its satellite broadcast reaches an estimated nineteen million Afghans inside the country, and its digital platforms engage millions more around the world.

Origins

After the Taliban takeover of August 2021, Afghan outlets faced censorship, persecution and closure. Eye Media Group launched the channel to keep independent news available inside the country and to audiences abroad, and it was founded by journalists including Lotfullah Najafizada and Sami Mahdi.

The name comes from the Amu Darya, the great river of the region, and stands for connection and resilience. The network is headquartered in Virginia in the United States, with contributors in Afghanistan, Europe and North America.

Persian and Pashto news output

The schedule mixes news bulletins and current affairs with cultural and entertainment programming, produced in Persian and Pashto for viewers inside Afghanistan and in the diaspora. Since launch the channel has produced thousands of stories and videos across several languages.

Distribution

Amu TV broadcasts by satellite across Afghanistan and the region and streams continuously over the internet in high definition, with separate Persian and Pashto feeds. The channel also runs accounts on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, X and TikTok.
