Mekameleen TV Live Stream
Mekameleen TV, قناة مكملين, is an Egyptian opposition television channel based in Istanbul and broadcast on the Qatar-owned Es'hail 2 satellite. It belongs to the group of Egyptian outlets that emerged in exile after 2013 and address the country's politics from outside it.
Reporting and Controversy
The channel has published material that made headlines far beyond Egypt. In 2015 it broadcast a leaked audio recording attributed to Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, and in 2017 it released a leaked video appearing to show Egyptian soldiers killing unarmed men from the Sinai Peninsula and placing weapons beside the bodies. The Egyptian authorities have long accused such outlets of serving hostile interests, and the channel has been unavailable inside Egypt.
Egyptian news and political discussion
The schedule consists of Arabic news bulletins, political discussion, interviews and social and cultural programmes. Coverage concentrates on Egypt — the government, the security services, the economy and the opposition — with attention to the wider Arab region and the circumstances of Egyptian exiles.
Studio discussion is the main format, with presenters and guests examining a subject in depth over an extended slot, supported by reports from the channel's correspondents.
Distribution
Mekameleen TV is carried by satellite across the Middle East and North Africa and streams continuously over the internet, with the signal delivered at several bitrates for viewers on different connections. Its programmes and clips are also published on YouTube, where the channel maintains a large video archive.
