TV channels Dominican Republic
Dominican television is a family affair built on channels with decades of history: a state network, powerful commercial signals from Santo Domingo, the only 24-hour sports channel in the country and a dense web of regional broadcasters across the Cibao.
The networks of Santo Domingo
Telemicro Canal 5 is the network with the widest reach in the country, the flagship general-entertainment channel of Grupo Telemicro. Color Visión Canal 9 is a pioneer of Dominican private television, on air since 1969 and the first channel to broadcast in color in the country, while Teleantillas Canal 2 is the oldest TV channel of the Dominican Republic. The line-up continues with Telecentro Canal 13, Telesistema Canal 11 with family programming, Telefuturo 23, Digital 15, Cinevision Canal 19, Microvision Canal 10, Teleunion TV, Antena 21, Canal Amé 47 and Super Canal 33, which serves audiences at home and in the diaspora. State television is represented by Canal 4 - CERTV, operated by the Corporación Estatal de Radio y Televisión.
News and sports without pause
CDN 37 - Cadena de Noticias, the channel of the Dominicans - carries live newscasts, investigative reporting and event coverage, and CDN Deportes is the country's only 24-hour sports channel. RNN Canal 27 - the Red Nacional de Noticias - runs another newsroom around the clock, Noticias SIN brings news and political programming for the Grupo SIN audience, and Teleradio America keeps its news and entertainment mix.
The Cibao and the regions
Regional television is remarkably strong. Santiago de los Caballeros, the second city, is covered by Canal 25 Santiago, Canal Telecanal 28 and Telenovisa 43. Vallevision Canal 10 leads in La Vega, Telenord Canal 10 serves San Francisco de Macorís and the northeast, Canal 10 Yuna Vision covers Bonao, Televiaducto canal 14 serves Moca, and TV 10 San Juan is the community channel of San Juan de la Maguana in the south. La Voz de Maria - the Catholic channel from La Vega - joins TV Esperanza and Canal Vision Canal 88 on the religious side.
