CTTV Live Stream
CTTV - City of Tampa Television - is the municipal television channel of Tampa, Florida: the city's own screen for government, public services and community life, run by the city's Digital Media Production unit. Its schedule is built on live city council meetings, mayor's briefings and city-produced programs, and the channel streams around the clock online.
Tampa is Florida's third-largest city, home to nearly 400,000 people on the bay where the Hillsborough River meets the Gulf of Mexico, and CTTV is the window through which residents watch their government work - a full-time municipal channel in a city big enough to keep one busy.
Government in the Open
The grid is local government made visible: council meetings and committee sessions from City Hall, zoning hearings, the mayor's press briefings, and programs from city departments covering everything from parks and water to police and emergency management. Between the meetings, CTTV carries city-produced features on neighborhood projects, redevelopment on the riverfront, and the civic rituals of a growing city, while the city's own video archive keeps every session available on demand.
From Cable Franchise to 24/7 Streaming
CTTV was built for the city's cable subscribers - the classic government-access channel of the cable franchise era. Today it reaches far beyond the cable box: the city operates a round-the-clock feed carried on its City of Tampa LIVE outlet, while a separate meetings channel archives council sessions and a main city channel collects programs and public-service features. The municipal schedule, in other words, has become a streaming network of its own.
Hurricane Season and Community Coverage
In a Gulf Coast city, the municipal channel doubles as an emergency information outlet: when hurricane season sends storms toward Tampa Bay, the channel carries briefings from the mayor and emergency managers, storm-track updates and preparation information. The rest of the year the camera turns outward - parades and community events, the river that defines downtown, and the day-to-day services that keep a city of Tampa's size running, from street projects to the port and the airport, all produced by the city's own media staff.
