Realitatea TV, member of the Realitatea-Catavencu group, is the first television in Romania dedicated to news. It appeared in 2001 as a general station led by Silviu Prigoană and reprofiled in a short time on the 24-hour transmission of informative programs. The station's philosophy is that the event rules the schedule, so at any moment the broadcaster can be energized with breaking news. The program schedule of Reality TV mainly includes news journals (hour by hour), but also shows of political, social, cultural and scientific analysis.
The mission of Realitatea TV has been "to respect its audience's need for information." The principles that guide their journalistic approach are objectivity, accuracy and professionalism, and the values are truth, courage, sincerity and social responsibility, embodied in campaigns and projects.
Viewers play a very important role in Realitatea's work; they are invited to comment on the news on the realitatea.net website, with the best comments being broadcast on air. Realitatea TV has also set up the "Eyewitness" service, which collects photos and videos taken by viewers and sent to Realitatea.
