Canal TRO is the public regional broadcaster for Colombia’s eastern departments, Santander and Norte de Santander. TRO stands for Televisión Regional del Oriente; the company was created in 1995. The channel brands itself as the voice of Gran Santander and focuses on news, education and entertainment.

A regional public broadcaster

Its 2026 slate includes more than 60 productions from about 40 production companies, spanning fiction, comedy, humour, chronicle and documentary. The broadcaster says the line-up gives greater visibility to municipalities, local stories and cultural life in Gran Santander.

News from Santander and Norte de Santander

In September 2026, the channel introduced TRO Noticias (TRO News), replacing its former Oriente Noticias identity. The programme covers both departments and national events through reporting, investigations, special reports and analysis. Its service segments address community concerns, legal guidance, health, tourism, the economy and public-interest stories.

Fiction rooted in the region

Ciudadano Extranjero (Foreign Citizen), filmed between Cúcuta and Bogotá, approaches migration through the lives of its characters. La 4ta Sur (The 4th South) builds an urban story around music and performers in Bucaramanga. The announced titles also include Pecados de sangre (Sins of Blood) and Ni un paso atrás (Not One Step Back).

Journeys and personal stories

Rolling por la City (Rolling Around the City) follows conversations and city exploration on a two-seat bicycle in Bucaramanga. Rolling con el Cuy (Rolling with Cuy) follows a production journey across Santander. In Amor Verdadero (True Love), real couples share their experiences in conversations led by Sebastián Vega and Valentina Ochoa.
