Rei TV is an Italian local television station based in Acireale, in the metropolitan city of Catania, whose catchment area covers the whole of Sicily, on digital terrestrial channel 18 in Sicily and in the neighbouring province of Reggio Calabria.

The station was founded in 1982 by a group of pioneers from Giarre, the town north of Acireale, and owes its name to its initial link with a local private radio station.

OraTG, twice a day

The station's output is centred on local information through its newscast OraTG, produced by the channel's own newsroom in two daily editions and repeated in evening and late-night slots, covering Acireale, Giarre and the Etna area as well as the wider island.

Sharm el-Sheikh, 2005

The newsroom's history was marked by a tragic event on 23 July 2005, when the cameraman Giovanni Conti and the journalistic collaborator Rita Privitera, on assignment, were killed in the terrorist attacks of Sharm el-Sheikh - a loss that drew condolences from the world of journalism and from institutions across Italy.

The Tosto years

In November 1993 control passed to the publisher Sebastiano Tosto, who led the station until his premature death in November 2005 at the age of 37. Today the station continues to represent Acireale and the Giarre area, combining its news with coverage of the territory's events and traditions.
