Szombathelyi Televízió Live Stream
Szombathelyi Televízió (SZTV) is the local television station of Szombathely, the seat of Vas county in western Hungary. The city television aired its first broadcast on 5 February 1990 on UHF channel 38 and today reaches about 55,000 households in Szombathely and its 25-kilometre surroundings. In 2024 the Szombathely heritage committee declared the station and its archive a local value.
From Fortnightly Magazines to Daily Live Broadcasts
The station began with so-called canned magazines aired for one hour every two weeks; these gradually gave way to weekly, then twice-weekly and, from the mid-1990s, daily live programmes. SZTV has been available online since 2004, and its broadcasts have been produced with digital technology since September 2008. The station regularly hosts trainees - four to six students gain practical experience in its studio every year.
City News, Sport and Culture
The programme structure follows the life of the city and the county: public affairs and politics, sport, culture, the Kékhírek crime round-up, economy, education, health and religion blocks, and a daily programme guide. Sport coverage has long been tied to the city's flagship clubs - the Falco KC basketball team and the Haladás football club - with fixture lists and match reports.
Operator and Funding
The station is published by AGORA Savaria Kulturális és Médiaközpont Nonprofit Kft. together with the municipality of Szombathely, from its base at Márius 15. tér 5. Its media service activity is supported by the Hungarian Media Council under the Hungarian Media Patronage Programme.
