A 24-hour information and entertainment TV channel in Russian for Russian-speaking compatriots living anywhere in the world, including the USA, China and countries of Western Europe, the Middle East and North Africa.
"RTR-Planeta" (Russian Television and Radio - Planet) is a Russian international satellite TV channel. It is part of the All-Russian State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company. It started broadcasting on July 1, 2002.
The main difference and advantage of RTR-Planeta is that the programs consist of the best TV programs "Russia" and "Culture". These programs are now also available to the viewers of RTR-Planeta. The best programs, serials, movies, as well as cartoons of Soyuzmultfilm, Ukrainimafilm and TO Ekran studios are on the air.
The basic version of the channel with the logo and interprogramme design "Planeta RTR" is broadcast worldwide. In America this version is broadcast with significant changes, caused by the difference in time zones.
In the CIS countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan) a special version of the channel is broadcast with the logo and cross-programme design of "Russia RTR". In the Baltic countries a special version of the channel is broadcast: "RTR-Planeta - Baltica" with the "Russia RTR" logo and interprogram design.
